THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS.
AMERICAN PRTICIPATION. Received 11.55 a.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 28. The Times Washington correspondent, quoting an unnamed authority, stales that the United States participation in the League of Nations' during tlie past nine months would cost approximately 34 c 209 dollars, and if the United States does not join the league, but make s a separate peace with Germany, she will probably lose a sum involving more than twelve hundred million dollars. The authority points out that Germany under a separate ti’eaty would probably not allow the American Alien Property Custodian to retain 800.000,000 dollars of former German holdings in the United States; nor return to the Americans 400,000,000 dollars of American investments in Germany. The United States would also lo?e valuable patent rights, copyrights, and trademarks granted under the Versailles Treaty if she were to make a separate peace.
