METEOROLOGICAL.
We are indebted to Mr. A. R. Fannin for the following:— The rainfall for the month of August was 2.05 inches. There were 17 flays without jrain and the maximum fall was 0.641 noh the 12th. The average fall for the corresponding month of the previous 16 years is 2.52in5. while for the corresponding month of last it was 4.09 in.
The mean maximum temperature in the shade was 47.9 deg. F., the extreme being 56.8 deg. F. on the 7th. The mean minimum temperature in the shade was 35.4 ieg. F., the extreme being 28 deg. F. on the 22nd.
The mean terrestial radiation (temperature on the grass) was 33.5 deg. F., the minimum being 26.2 deg F. on - the ISth. The mean earth tempera tare at 2ft was 44.1 deg. F.. ranging from. 43 dog. F. on tlie Ist to 45 deg. F. on 3lsf, for the corresponding month of lasfeyear the mean was 45.4 deg. F.
