DISTRICT NEWS.
TAOROA NOTES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday last a bachelors’ ball * was held at Taoroa, and was well attended. The weather was fine, and there were a number of visitors present from various parts of the district. The music was supplied by Miss ■ Chase (paion) and Mr Parore (violin), and Mr Cox officiated as.'M.C. During the evening, musical and vocal ’ items were contributed by the following: Mr Parore (Maori-English song), Mr Parore and Miss Chase (duets), Mr H. Chase song), Messrs. Chase, Casey and Cox (song). Extras were played by Misses Platt and C. Chase and Messrs F. and W. eßnck. The floor was in splendid order, and the excellent supper provided by the ladies of Taoroa and Peukeohaku was done full Justice to. The recent rains have done a great deal of good in this part of the district, and the prospects for the com- - ing season .are now good. The ladies of the district have decided to arrange a ball as a" return to the hall given by the bachelors, and' it Is understood tfaaf they have made,* arrangements for ochesfral music
