TOWN HALL PICTURES. “HUMAN DESIRE.” .. Babies—all kinds of them—rich, poor, heirs and foundlings, are the keynote of Anita Stewart’s latest First National feature, ‘‘Human Desire.” The story deals with a quaint unconquerable mother-instinct in a girl who is an inmate of a convent; to fondle, love and press to her heart a little ‘bambino,’ she trudges barefoot, in trousers, from the convent in Italy. Forceful, compelling and at all times pleasing the picture hits a note that is different, and besides furnishing a splendid role for the lovely little star that fits her like a glove, it has an undoubted human appeal -do ail lovers of children* A full supporting programme will a.company this feature which will be shown at .he Town Hall, Saturday. THE KING’S “A FIGHTING COLLEEN.” A Yitagraph feature presenting. a story of the slums of a great city. Perfumed and spiced by the personality and Elfin charm of Bessie Love in a role that is always her best, a li tie slavey of charity flats, a lily growing in the mire, battling with smile and spunk against adversity, creasing he ; v own little world of Romance and advc’nture, and bringing sunshine into the alley. She .entertaining comedy drama, "A Fighting Colleen” brings Bessie Love in a typical Irish Colleen Role which she interprets in a charming and convincing manner. The photoplay is set in the tenement district of the Metropolis where poverty is the" lot of a young girl who. until her mother’s death, is a vendor .of newspapers on the street corners, and engaging in many fights •to protect her territory from the competritms of newsboys When she administers a sound thrashing to one youth he thereafter becomes her champion. As 'the District Attorney is a candidate for the office of Mayor lie is interested in discovering evidence of g?aft against the administration in power, and the girl assists him. While it is not heavy or melodramatic, it has a light romance angle, paths occasionally and altogether is an entertaining comedy drama with a human appeal.
