CURFEW IN BELFAST. A BENEFICIAL RESULT. LONDON. Sept. 1. The 'military’s rigid enforcement of the curfew order in Belfast resulted in a peaceful night, the streets being deserted till five q’clock. Afterwards the police fatally shot a man trying to escape from a looted public house, Sinn Feiners armed with stones and rifles attacked trams conveying workmen to the shipyards. Fierce, riotinj£ending in The military firing several volleys, which ended the disturbances. MORE MURDERS COMMITTED. LONDON, Sept. 1. Masked men raided the house of a youth living at Dungarvan. The youth resisted and was shot dead.
Two Irish police were murdered while on night patrol at Ballaghaderreon.. A large party of masked men broke into the house of the farmer named Louergan at Touraneena Waterford, and shot the eldest son sleeping in the bedroom. The father and another son ran into the yard and’ were severely beaten with sticks. Another farmer’, living in Caber, heard knocking on his door. He opened it and was shot dead. WILL NOT RETURN. AN UNDIGNIFIED POSITION. LONDON, Sept. 1. Truth stales that Lord French will not return to Dublin > and his leave has been indefinitely extended. SINN FETtf RAIDS, IMPORTANT PAPERS TAKEN. Received 8.55 a.m. eLONDON, Sept. 2. Sinn Feiners raided the Irish Headquarters of the aiy force at Baldonnel, Dublin. They captured important papers, including secret defence plans and codes. . Raiders destroyed the entire buildings and equipment at Browdicad coastguard sta ion. County Cork.
