RECORD LOSSES FROM DROUGHT ' Received. 9.30 a.m. SYDNEY, This day. The Farmers' and Settlers Conference has been opened. The' annual report stated that the 1919-20 period ha-d established a record in the form of losses through drought, the number of sheep lost totalling ten to twelve millions. The report urges the State and Federal Governments to give attention to methods by which the effects of drought may be mitigated.
WESTRALIAN WHEAT. Received 9.30 a.m. PERTH. This day. The wheat yield is 11,223,000 bushels, an average of 10.~S bushels per acre, which is three bushels per acrebetter than the previous harvest. The live stock returns show a heavy decrease in horses, cattle, and sheep. AN INTERESTED VOTE. Received 9.30 a.m. PERTH, This day. The legislative Council, by 15 votes to 7, negatived a motion for its own abolition. RECORD OF PRINCE'S VISIT. Receive! ¥.30 a.m. MELBOURNE, This day. The Government has recorded the whole of the Prince's visit in molrmgr pictures, and has presented one copy to. the Prince, placed another in the. Commonwealth 'museum, and the other four copies will be used for the
world-wide advertising of Australia.
