THE CARPENTIER CASE. JURY AGAIN DISAGREES PALMERSTON N., Aug. 18. The case "againsF Albert JaiLes Wilfred Carpentie'r, 0 f Wanganui, charged with indecently assaulting two litle girls, concluded before Mr Justice Chapman and a jury to-day. There was a change of venue from Wangauui b& Palmerston, as the jury at the two previous trials disagreed After a retirement of over four hours the jury again disagreed. The Judge ordered a fresli trial for next sessions, with an intimation that he would report on the case to the Minister of Justice, who could decide whether the case should be pursued further.

SUGAR STRIKE ENDED AUCKLAND, Tins day. The sugar strike has been settled, and the men have agreed to resume work forthwith.
