INCREASED PAY. FOE PUBLIC ’SERVICE MEN. WELLINGTON. July 29. The Prime Minister, replying yesterday to a question without notice by Mr R. A. "Wright (Wellington Suburbs), as to when the railwaymen and post and telegraph officers and other public servants were to get their increased pay, bonuses, or allowances, stated that he could give no definite reply then, but he would proba.b l y be able to' make a statement on the matter on the following day. So far as the delay was concerned, it was not on the part of the Government, inasmuch as the Treasury was quite prepared at any time to pay out the increased wages and salaries. There was delay on the
part of one department, which was not quire ready; but he hoped to be able to make a statement to-day.
