FIRE ON A LINER.

OUTBREAK AT? WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, July 22

Fire was discovered in the 'tween decks on No. 1 hold of the steamer Raranga to-night. The liner, fully loaded with general cargo, including flax and wool, was to sail for London on Saturday at daybreak. The City Brigade was called out and broken through an insulated door in order to get at the fire, but without success. As opening the door made the fire worse the door had to be closed again. The Brigade will either have to cut through the decks or lift the smouldering cargo from the hold, hosing it as it comes out.
