TWO MAORI CHILDREN.

BURNED TO DEATH. THAMES. This Day. Two Maori children, Tab a Waikato, 12 months, and Kati Waikato, 3 years, were fatally burned in a whare, at Kerepehi, Hauraki Plains. Four children were in bed in the whare, with a tin oonfaining burning wood in the centre. The mother had gone off to a store for candles, leaving a girl of 12 in charge. The latter fell asleep, and the tin overturned, setting fire to the blankets. The girl rescued two of the children; the other two received burns | to which they shortly succumbed. The I whare was not materially damaged. J only the blankets being destroyed. j
