SPA CONFERENCE.
PEACE TREATY TERMS.
STATEMENT BY DR. SIMONS
Received 9.25
BERLIN, July 21
Dr. Simong has informed the Press that if the demands of the Entente are incapable of fulfilment, the Government would have to submit to the occupation of the Ruhr Valley. He was convinced that with rigid economy in Germany two million tons of coal could be exported monthly. The Government would be prepared to make specific proposals on reparations at the Geneva Conference. He wished to see disarmament carried out with the powerful help of the Entente. He emphasised his intention /to fulfil the peace treaty obligations to the Best of his ability, but declared that the present -was not the time to talk of revision. He hoped that when (Termany had convinced the Allies that she had done her utmost, and convinced' them of her goodwill, the Entente itself would grant a revision.
