VALEDICTORY.
A very pleasant hour was spent at the O'taihape Farmers’ Meat and Produce Coy’s Winiata Freezing Works last Monday afternoon, when the staff of, the works and office foregathered in the erlgine-room, where all engines had been stopped, to bid farewell to their chief engineer, in the person of Mr D. M. Rutherford, on the eve of his departure to Mas't.erton, where he takes up the position of chief engineer for the Wellington Farmers’ Meat Company, Rutherford was the recipient of a handsome piece of plate in the form of a silver coffee and tea service o E tray. It was presented on behalf of the staff by Mr P. S. Carroll, managing secretary, whose pleasant remarks were received with approbation. Mr Rutherford suitably responded, after which the usual toasts were honoured. One and all joined in wishing Mr Rutherford “Good-bye” and “Good Luck.’’
