FATAL MOTOR CAR ACCIDENT.

WELLINGTON, This day. A distressing fatality occurred late on Saturday night involving the death of a middle-aged 'woman, Miss Blanche Saunders, who was crossing Lambton Quay when she was run down by a motor car, driven by T. C.' A. Hi slop. Deceased apparently did not see the car until it was close to her then she hesitated and made as if to cross in front of it. She again hesitated, and stepped bach. Mr His-, lop swerved his car to one side, and then to the other, endeavouring without avail to avoid a collision. Miss Saunders was taken to the hospital, whei*e life was pronounced to be extinct.
