AMUSEMENTS

TOWN HALL, TO-NIGHT. Originality in everything they do. This is the keynote of the success of. Wendy and Alphonse, the clover vaudeville jturn who are to appear at the Town /Hall to-night only in conjuncition with a new picture programme. Wendy and Alphonse infuse every number they perform with their buoyant personality and keerr their audience on the "qui vive" wondering what surprise packet they will produce next. Smart humour, clever pianologues, appealling character studies, chie costumes, lightning changes, humourous sketches, songs, skits, parodies and originalities are all equally well done by this gifted and versatile pair. Local playgoer s will remember their recent appearance here with- the Lois Alsace Coy. when Alphonse scored decidedly in impressions of an an "Aussie," a coster, and a Maori rendering of the song "Katey"; aai Wendy's great hit in her original parody, "If the Wind Had Only Blown the Other Way." Everything will be new in their turn to-night. The new picture programme will feature "The Sneak," a romance of riches and rags, which is claimed to be one of Gladys Brockwell's greatest triumphs. There will also be a good i Sunshine comedy—"Footlight Maids," and the customary topical curtain, raiser. KINGS, TO-NIGHT. "Carmen of Klondike" —A super attraction in the form of an eightpart drama of frozen Alaska, and a companion picture to "The Flanie of the Yukon,'' will be shown at the King's to-night and Wednesday. In "Carmen of the Klondike," the new Selexert drama of the frozen Alaskan goldfields scenes of great natural beauty are abundant; wonderful snow scenes have been effected and a never-to-be-forgotten struggle between two old men in the drenching rain provides an outstanding climax. The men roll round and batter each other; they are soaked to the. skin and covered with slime and mud, but continue the fight until the hero, ultimately, is the victor. The story, in brief, involves the love story of Dorothy Harlan ("Carmen Of the Klondike") and Cameron Stewart. The success of tEe Mg com-* edy, "Between the Acts,' 7 has'brought many requests for its repeat. The management will again show it tonight only. Usual prices will rule.
