UNION. . *> '■•*•; Corresp' nc'encc was read at" the meeting of the Wanganui Eugby Union on Monday evening from Taihape, Kangitikei and Buapeku Sub-Unions with, reference to their combined team's match with Wanganui here next Saturday, and it was eventually decided to combine Taihape and Bang;tikei, and that Euapehu be paid a* | visit if possible later on in the season, one of the selectors and the Secretary to visit the North v. South Eangitikei match at Marton on Wednesday. The South Island-Wanganui match: at Taihape on August 14 was discussed following on receipt of the southerners' itinerary from the New Zealand Union, and it was left to the conference at Taihape on the 30th inst to see if suitable train arrangements could be made. It was decided to wire Auckland asking if, on their southern tour, they would play Wanganui at Taihape. Messrs Pownall, O'Meara and the secretary were appointed to represent the Union at the conference with Tauinarunui, Kuapeliu, Taihape and Kangitikei Sub-Unions at Taihape as instructed by the annuaH meeting of delegates to the N.Z.R.TJ. Wednesday, 30th inst., at 3 V- m - was the day and time of the conference. The order of reference for the conference would begone into at next Monday night's meeting.

The return match between Taranaki and Wauganui will be played at Hawera in Show Week, on Saturday, July 10th. Wellington will play their customary match with Taranaki also at Hawera two days previous. The Bay of Plenty touring team will play Wanganui on Saturday week on. the Ree. The visiting team, which is reported to be a clever combination, will arrive on July 1. It is a long while since a Hawk's Bay team visited 'Wanganui, but the East Coasters have finally decided to play Wanganui at. Wanganui on Saturday, July 17, a return, match to be played at Napier fflcxt. season. A match was played at Taumarunui on Saturday last between King Country and Grafton (Auckland) Club. "A very close and interesting game resulted in a win for King Country by 13 to 11. The visit of the Pirate team--to Wanganui on Satarday last was an
hnjoyablo one, and the local team keenly appreciated the hospitality extended to them. In tha Old Boys, the Pirates found a team which fairly extended. Th» game was fast and sufficiently closely contested to allow of no mistakes b<!ing madia by the victors. An interchange of matches between country teams and thb parent Union cannot fail to be productive of a better' understanding between town aud country. Tbb North v. South Island Rugby football match will be played at Wellington on Saturday.
