SUGAR SUPPLIES.

j TWO' MILLIONS SAVED. RATIONING TO CONTINUE. i _—— WELLINGTON, June 21. The chairman of the Board of Trade in a statement, said that the aggregate saving effected for the New Zealand general public during the past three years as the result of arrangements made with the Colonial Sugar Refining Company was approximately two millions sterling by comparison with the amount that would have been paid if the market for sugar had been free here as elsewhere. The Government has entered into a new agreement with the Colonial Company whereby raw sugar will ue purchased in Fiji by the Government, refined at its own expense, and listrlbuted. This system will operate from July 1, It is anticipated that the quantity available will be in excess of that refined last year, but necessity for the allocating of supplies will still continue under the Board of Trade.
