June 21. j Two hundred Sinn Feiners made a desperate night attack on the barracks a f Fan-en, fourteen miles from Cork. Using gelignite, they blew up a corner of the barracks, and followed this up with a fusilade of revolver and rifle shots. The garrison pluckily held out until reinforcements arrived, and put the attackers to flight. The Sinn Feiners abandoned laree motor cars. The barracks was wrecked.
