TOWN HALL, WEDNESDAY NEXT. I The many who retain plc:};.unt recollections of p_re\‘ious visits of‘ the English Pierrots will welcornc, no doubt; the return of this clever and \‘cl'sa,tfle leombination, who are announced to make their appearance 11.1. the Town Hall on Wednesday next, when they will again present their unique, humourous, and musical entert:tinment,. consisting of the very latest songs, dances, original sketches, quartettes, concerted nurnbers-_. which comprise most enjoyable entertainments. The company is still headed by that very droll comedian, W. P. Turner, and the popular entertainer, Charles Lawrence, supported by a company of accomplished ar.t.ists——sixteen in all—-and the mantgemcnt claim that the English Pierrot; are one of the brightest and most up-to-date combinations in Aus~ tral-asia, where the success. of seventeen years is still verified by the press andg; public. The introduction of a ladies’ instrumental quartette of four Inembers——an entirely new item-has greatly added to the artistic programmes presentcd by the clever combination of English Pierrots, which now consist of nine ladies and.seven men—all artists in their particular forte. Fun and frolic and quaint concerted singing are included in every programme——and‘ never slackens for two hours, being a continuous delight. The voices of the Engliish Pierrots have created the most favourable comment. Although the work of the company is mostly humourous,‘ the vocal standard has been kept up to a high level, so that in the humourous concerted work it is not only the lighter vein which is touched: but the musical taste is appealed to as well. The English Pitrrots come with excellent credentials, and a reputation built on genuine merit; a more enjoyable per~ formance would be diflicult to imagine, and the company ’s appearance is being awaited with pleasurable anticipation.
