New South Wales agitates confstantly for the carrying out of the bargain made, when she. joined the Federation, that the capital of the Australian Commonwealth should be established within 2. certain time in the southern portion of New South Wales. The site. after great controversy, was fixed at Canberra, alld building had actually commenced when war put an end to the operations. A considerable sum has been spent there on public works, but several more millions are required before it will be possible lo hold the Commonwealth Parliament there.
