A NEW MUSICAL COMEDY.
Captain Bruce Bairnsfatheli-"g great comedy will be staged at the Town Hall on next ‘Monday, the 24th inst, “The Better ’O1e” direct from its phenomenal success in Melbourne ana Sydney, is Certan to arouse more than ordinary interest. It is the actual play, not a picture, and will be staged with the same attention to details as in the Australian production. Kip--ling did for the army what Bairnsfather is doing for it in his “cartoons, now culniinating‘ in his comedy, “The Better ’Ole,” bringing the humble workmen of glory, the common soldier, so called, individually nearer the hearts of the British people. This delightfully humorous play, in spite of the fact that, many catchy musical numbers and clever dancers have been introduced. must be regarded as in genuine art ‘product. There is so much genial human nature in it. and so vivid a suggestion of the silent endurance of danger and iseomfort. The resultant theatrical picture is ’chol'oughl_v and alertly enjoyable, as is being shown by the overwhelming enfllusiasm Wliil which it is We}oomed everywhere. The -artists,.sa.ys a contemporary, have overcome the difficulty of not overdrawing the‘ characters, while allowing for thetouch of caricature. The setting isclever and the entertainment leaves brrhind it :1 somewhat ummuul feeling of satisfaction The Box Plan is at ShCl‘win"s.
