DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS, TO-
MORROW.
AT TOWN HALL.
At both the matinee and eveningr performances to-morrow, at the Town ’ Hall, Douglas Fairbanks will appear , with the wonderful Arteraft kiddies in T a whirl-wind of mirth and'excitement, entitled “Mr Fixit.” This Paramount special feature- has had a most sucr cessful run in the cities, where com- ) potent critics have declared it amongst - the best pictures of the year. Doug. ■ Fairbanks plays the part of Mr 5 Fixit, whom fate had led through a ‘ whirl of adventure and a maze of eir- ’ cumstances to the slums, where a i pretty girl is lighting 'to keep her ! self-respect. He fixes everything and ; everyone in characteristic style, and his pet theories regarding human happiness, although they cause surprises and thrills to follow each other in quick succession, arc happily demonstrated as incontrovertible facts, especially when the kiddies set out to fix “Mr Fixit. 7 ’ THE KING’S. TO-NIGHT. THE LAW OF COMPENSATION; Norma Talmadge is the leading figure in “The Law of Compensation’ ’ now being screened at the King’s, and has a dual role which she carries off with her usual unfailing artistry. She is undoubtedly one of the few first-class emotional actresses of the film and in whatever play she appears she is sure to make fresh admirers. * “The Law of Compensation’’ is a Select production and is consistently good throughout. It is a story within a story, a difficult method of narrative, and the success in this play is therefore all the more complete’. Norma is a young married woman who finds the ordinary round of life rather irksome and commences to play with fire. Her father hears of the threatened disaster and hurriedly visits her. Then he tells her the tragic story of her mother who had trodden the same path of folly and paid the penalty of all who flout the laws of compensation. The effect of the story on the young woman makes a dramalTc climax to a play of fine dramatic I, power. {
