‘YOUNG MAN SERIOUSLY WOUND- : ‘ED. [9 MR C. E. MACKAY UNDER 3 -r ARREST. S A painful sensation was caused in Wanganui um Saiturday afternoon when it became known that a'returned soldier, -W'_alter Di’Arcy Cresswell, aged 24 years, had been admitted to the hospital suffering from a bullet wound in the right breast, and Tthat Mr M-ackay, the Mayor, was implicated in the affair. The fir-st indication of anything of an untoward "nature was shortly before 1 o’clcrk on Saturday afternoon, when people in lthe vicinity of Mr Mackay’S office-——Which is upstairs in a building in Ridgway Street, nearly opposite the Public Library-—were startled by the sounds of a. commo~ tion.
