ACROSS PACIFIC BY AIR.
Predictions of a trans-Pacific aeroplane race by Britain and the United States in the near future were made by navy ofiicials at the Aeronautical Exhibition in New "Wk.
It is ‘assemfed that the ÜB. navy has under construction two giant seaplanes, with which":‘l'fiight will be attempted from San Fra.nci§éo"to Hong--kong, via. Honolulu, Wake Island, Guam, Emd Manila.
The new craft are triplanes, said to have twice the capacity and power of the American Tra.ns—Atlantic ‘sea.planes. They are to be equipped with nine 400-li.p. Liberty motors, they will have a wing sp'?ead of 140 ft, and a -gross load capacity of 30 tons; The craft are said to be under construction in anticipation of a, challenge to a trans-Pacific flight for the, new Vickers aeroplane, reported ‘to have 4800-h.p. motors. -
