OBITUARY.
‘L MR DAVID .WILKIE. .§.___ '
Most sel;tler,s. in this district will regret to learn that Mr David Wilkie, late of T.or'ere, Taihape, who came to this district some years ago from Petone, where he conducted 3. very successful business, died at Mount Eden, Auckland, yesterday. He had been ailing for some time, but his demise came rather unexpectedly. He had retired from a farming life in this district and was living at Mount Eden, and was only 64 years of age. To say that the late "Mr Wilkie was well and favourably known hereabout goes little way in conveying the high esteem he‘was held in by all with whom he came in contact. His homestead at Torere was notable for its hospitality,‘ its-. owner having a most cheerful and generous ' disposition. His life, prior to his retirement, had been‘ a particularly busy and most useful one, and this district was the poorer through his retirement from active life ” ‘ Several Taihape friends are attending the funeral which takes place at Mount Eden, Auckland, to-morrow, Friday ’
