SUPPLIES OF BENZINE.

SHIPMENTS ON THE WAY.

The statement. by the Prime minister published on Tuesday regarding there being now enough benzine in hand and to arrive to satisfy the Dominion’s_ normal requirements to the end of July, appears to be somewhat premature as far as Auckland is concerned (says the Star), for supplies here are still very short, as applicants found when trying ‘to purchase last week. The position is stated to be much better in the South Island and at Wellington just uow than it is in Auckland, as the supplies for this port are yet to arrive. The Port. Lyttelton is, however, due inn day or two with 11,000 cases, which it is almost needless to say, will be rapidly absorbed. The Prime Minister also stated that. the sub—committes for rationing supplies of benzine llilil suspended operations, but that is not the ease, as ‘far as Auckland is concerned, whatever may be the position in other eentres. The next. vessel due here {after the Port Lyttellotn, bringing benzine, is the Havre, expected n,bout- April Zist. with 11,000 of Shell brand, and on May Bth, the Chepacloe should reach here from New York Witli 15,000 cases of Plume brand.
