BOWLING NOTES.
T.hursda.y afternoon was probably (be clqse -of the season so d:‘a!r as most local bowlers are concerned, and the season closes with all the eompeti~ -tions successfully terminated; the e-overtcd Hum Cup in the_Clu-b’s‘ posfi session temporarily, and the finances in a betfercondition. The green, however, is the one exception 'to the general improvement, and largely so because ‘of the inelfi-~ cieney of the labour ‘employed. ' A good man, honest, with a fah-"share of common sense, could’ make‘ vast improvements" on_ the green. It reall3r"has been crying out for honest toil, and honest toil alone. The committee will have to bestir themselves if there is to be a better green next season. Mr V. Barkman was again success-
ful in the Juriior Championship r“ Singles. Mr Fookes won the Senior ‘ «Championship Singles ‘after three semi- ’ finals had been played; Mackenzie beat’ Loader, Wham beat De -Luen, Fookes beat Wham, and Fookes and
McKenzie fought ‘out tlic final. In the
Pairs, Wham and Gardner forfeited to James and Riddick, who played the final against Stent and Barkman.’ The game pfoved a very close o'n‘e-—-all being square -on the last head. and in the play-of Stent managed to score four.
Mesdames McKenzie and Joll provided a very acceptable afternoon tea, for which all we‘fe grateful.
