FOOTBALL.
At a meeting of the King Country Rugby Union held at Taumarunui, on Saturday last, the question of forming a. Main Trunk Rugby Union was discussed.
- Mr Canton thought that something should be done in the way of communicating with Taihape, Ohakune, and Te Kuiti regarding the formation of a Main Trunk Union. If they did that -they would achieve many benefits, one of them being that they would be able to compete for the Ranfurly Shield and other shields. It would also tend greatly to foster the sport. The idea might well be pushed forward with advantage. ’
Mr G".“.\.wson remarked that a Union ~ha ‘ah-eady been formed from Taihape to Marten, called the Main Trunk Rugby Union The chairman ‘suggested that an ‘endeavour should be made to £6l-m a Union from Ohakune to Te Kuiti. But no Union could be formed without”flle sanction of tlie N.Z. Council.
[lt was agreed to write to the clubs
suggested to get what information they could. é
(From inquiries made from the Taihapo Rugby Sub-Union, Mr G. Dawsons? statelnelit above quoted is not correct; it is rather anticipating events. A movement is on foot -locally to form a Main Trunk Rugby Union, and the matter will be brought up at the next meeting of the local SubUnion, when definite me-;.xs will be taken in the direction indicated.--“Onlookel-.”)
