The I annual report and Ibalance-sheet were, read and adopted as follows:——' : « Last year the Pirate Football Club,. having been broken up since the commencement of the war, was reformed, and, for the kickoff, had a successful season, both financially and in the! game itself. It gives me great pleas- l me to put before you the balancesheet, which shows a profit of £l3 1/, for the past year, despite the payment for eighteen 3'9-I'sß-Ys Purchased by the club, and regret to say that seven of our players have not Yet Paid for their jerseys. Donations in cash were received from:—— Messrs P. E. -Wakeman £2 2/, A. J. Joblin £1 1/, G. Wrightson £1 1/, W. Pitt £1 1/,, J, Belliss, senr. 10/6, J. H. Saunders‘ 10/6, J. F. Thurston 10/; -total £6 16/. Trophies were received from:——Mr R. W. Smith, M.P., gold medal; Mr J. J. { Ryan, a football; Mr D. Neagle, a football; Rev. W’. H. Hocking, £1 1/ trophy; Mr W’. Watson, a gold medal; Mr W. Jeffreys, a cup and 7 gold‘ medals. On behalf of the club I wish l to thank these kind donors for their‘ much appreciated ‘donations. The Senior team, during the last season played eight matches, won four, lost. one, - drew three times. Thus winning the! cup presented to the Ruggy Union by] A. McColl, Esq. This team also won} the seven-a-side Senior Football Tour- 5 nament during the Peace Celebra- ‘ tions. The Junior Team played sixi games, won five, lost one, therefore} winning the Jeffries Challenge Cup,§ presented by W. Jeffries, Esq. They, were also successful in the seven-; -a-side Junior Football Tournament at} the Peace Celebrations. The medal‘ presented by Mr R. W. Smith for the, best junior forward. was won by Mr Louis Dean. Mr W. VVatson’g’s medal‘ for the best junior back, was won by Mr Roy McLure, and Mr Geof. Keat--4 ing won the Rev. Hofikings’ trophy for the best all-round player. Mr Cyril Murphy, an old and valued member of the club, won a medal for the best, forward in the Returned Soldiers’, Team at the Peace Celebrations. Mr. Charles McAlindon, another memberi of -the club, won the medal presentedi by Mr Matt. Bennett for the best all- 1 round player in the junior ?epresenta- i tive team that went to Hunter-ville to 1 try conclusions with the Rangitikeil Junior Representative team, but were ‘ _ beaten by them by 14 to 3. Since our . * last meeing quite a number of our old players have returned to us from? across ,the seas, and on behalf o-f the club I extend to them a hearty welcome home, and hope they will help to keep the colours flying as they did the Union Jack over on the other side. Darvill; Delegates to Union, (Seniors), J. J. Ryan, E. A.Belliss, (Juniors), C. Murphy; Committee, President. Secretary, Delegates and Club Captains. ’ The election of club captains was held over until next meeting. The secretary was instructed to Write to the Rugby Union re discussing severance from Wanganui and forming a King Country Union. Re insurance of players. it was decided to put it before the Union. Mr J. Ryan promised a donation of a football to the club. The meeting then terminated with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair.
