AMICABLE SETTLEMENT REACHED. AUCKLAND, This Day. As a result of the conference between the Mayor and the Tramway Union representatives on Sunday, the strike caused by the discharge of a number of motormen and conductors for alleged breaches of the traflic regulations, has been settled. The suspension of one conductor was upheld. Motormen are to be medically examined as to fitness for the work. Two rnotormen and one COn(luctol' were ‘feinstated. The Mayor says the corporation expects the utmost diligence on the part of the conductors in the collection of fares. The Union reiJresentatives have given’an understanding to duly respect authodity and uphold discipline. ‘
