SETTLING THE SOLDIER.
COMPLAINTS OF DEETCY.
ROTORUA, March 19
The president, Mr J. N. McLean, at a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce last night, spoke with I‘ef€l'ellC9 to the soldiers ’settlement at Repo-ma, and commented upon the slowness of
the work on the station. No surveying had been completed, and other necessary preparations were not being pushed on as they ought -to Ibe. He knew of a young fellow with over £IOOO. who was waiting and getting disgusted with. the delay. He knew the Government '-had plenty of work before it in regard to soldiers’ settlements, but he thought more progress might be made. He moved:——
“That information be sought from the Minister for Lands on the following points in regaljd to the settlement of soldiers on the Reporo-a Estate; (.1) Approximate date of ballot for sections; (2) will the whole estate be thrown open‘?’»’
The motion was carried unanimous
