--———o—-——— I(Before Wyvern Wilson, Esq., SM.) 1 —-- V.’ . ’ LA sitting of the Mag'iStrate’s Court ‘was held at Taihape on Thursday, be. fore Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., when-. the following cases were dealfi with-.' Duncan Anderson was charged with promuing liquor on March 4th during the currency of a prohibition order. He was fined £1 and costs 7/. Knut Ostland, alias Charley Carlson, was charged that he, knowing‘ Duncan Anderson was 3. =p-rohibited person, assisted him in the consumption of liquor. Fined £3 and 7/’ costs.
A Maori witness, called in a case p‘reviously heard of supplying liquor’ to a native for consumption off. licensed premises, which M case was dismissed, was prohibited ‘for twelve months.
Richard Apps was charged with that -on February 26, -he supplied liquor to a native for consumption of licensed premises. Defendant was‘ fined £5, money to be paid forthwith, in default. 30 days, and costs 7/. Theamount was forthcoming. CIVIL BUSINESS. Percy Wise Clarkson was sued by the Borough Council for ga.-iling to comply with a notice requiring him to provide, construct, and lay drains and other sanitary appliances.—Fined 20/ and costs.
Judgment by default was given in the following case'sl:— Boughton v. Tr_enb'ath, claim 210 16/11, costs 15/, solicitor’s fee 15/6. Capill Bros. v. Hihatu. claim £ll 13/6, costs £1 2/‘ solicitoi-’s fee 10/6. Taihape Borough C‘.oun"cil v. Mellow, arrears of rates £3l 10/4, costs £412/, 'solicitor’s fee £2 2/. Brooky V. Mclnteer, claim £2 19/2.. costs 5/. so-lici~ton’s fee 5/. Bond V’. Andrews, claim £B, costs 8/, solicitor’s fee 15/6. Louis Daws sued Kingi Topia for £3B 10/2, value of half a. crop of‘ potatoes and other moneys advanced" to defendant. Judgment Was» given for plaintiff for £lB 10/2, costs £l. 7/, and solicitor’s fee £1 6/. Two shearers, J. O’Brien and F. March, brought an action against 0. H. Ensor for £52 10/, damages sustained by plaintiffs in shearing 3500'sheep through failure to carry out contract by defendant. Marsh was non-suited on his claim, and judgment was given to O’Brien for £5, c'o_s-ts £1 5/. and solicitol:’s fee £1 6/. ' _

W. McNab was fined the amount of his bail, 20/, for being drunk inV‘Hautapu Street on St. P.atrick’s Day. _ _ A first -offender was fined 10/, the amount of his bail, for being inebrl'zft—ed on the 19th inst.
