ACCIDENTALLY KILLED.
A RAKETAPAUMA NATIVE.
An inquest on the death of a nafive, Whangi Te Kooro, was héld at Raketapauma. yesterday, before Mr J. P. Aldridge,Coroner.
Kiwa. Te Kooro testified that he was the son of the deceased, and last saw his fiber in good -health on the morning of the day on which he was killed, 15th March. His father Was then leaving for Hihitahi in a. buggy. The deceased was 60 years of age.
Sam Wiripu gave evidence that he was a nephew of the deceased, and left the Pah with his Ifncle to drive him to Hihitahi to catch the train for Taihape. While driving a shaft bolt came out, letting the shafts down on to the horse’s legs. The horse bolt~ ed. He (witness) was thrown out of the buggy and lost hold of the reins. Te Kooro was ‘still in the buggy. Witness was partly stunned with the fall, but'on regaining consciousness he ran down the road and found the deceased lying on the road near the buggy. The deceased was then unconscious, but came round 9. hit and said his back was hurt and asked for water to be put on it. fivhen Geo. Genders came along with others, and deceased was lifted into the buggy, 511": never spoke afterwards. The witness held deceased in his arms till the Pavh was reached and was then told he was dead. He noticed a deep cut above decea‘sved’s eye when he picked him up. G 9“ P*“3COCk gave corroborative evidence.
The finding of the Coroner was that deceased was 2c:cid:—‘.nf.:;?.l3.' L.-ille./.'!. by being thlo'wn from a buggy on the 15th March, 1920, at Raketapauma.
