Rangitikei A. & P. Show.

A RECORD EVENT. Throughout last night fihte. Show Ground Was the scene of active preparation for the Show to-day The morning broke fine but cloudy, and indications are that there will be freedom from scorching sun heat. All the competing stock was penned a.t an early hour; enabling the judges to get to Work 50 as to have their adjudications through in time for the earliest visitors to criticise and compare. Stock entries are above the average, the cattle section filling up remarkably Well, -the fats being very strongly in evidence. Dairy cattle are more numerous than at previous shows, in~ dicating that the industry isgrowing in importance in this district. The sheep are generally of excellent quality ——the Romneys being the most popular. Fat sheep and lambs are, naturaliy, in a freezing Works district, a feature of‘ the show. The only part of the show in which there is a marked falling off is in the Home Industries pavilion. Ladies. have gone back on the A. and P. Association, and ‘the pleasure of visitors is thereby much curtailed. /..The Show-ground !very much resembles an old-timelcounty fair in England. There are shows, roundabouts and enter-tainments of nearly every description. Chief among side shows is‘. that containing the giant ox, which Kidman, the Cattle King of Australia, says is the finest beast he ever saw, and which is being taken to America to show what New Zealand can produce in the cattle line. Another Very interesting sight is. the boy glass blower. who makes beautiful articles from glass in full view’ of the public Everyone who has any desire to know how mtich glassware is made should see this boy's wonderful work. V " As this journal published early -today to énable its staff to attend the-~ show, the full report and prize—list will appear in to-morroW’s issue.
