The New York World’s ‘Washington coriéespondent states: It is reported that the Repvwbiican leaders in ‘the Senizte plan to have the Treaty ratified: with the Lodge reservations slightly modified by the 19th inst. This plan is based on the assumption that there is enough Democratic votes 'to carry ratification.
‘VISCOUNT GREY’S LETTER.
PRESIDENT WILSON T 0 PROTEST INFORMALLY. NEW YORK, Feg. 5. The New York Tribune’s Washington correspondent states that it is rumoured that President Wilson is considering -sending an informal protest against‘ Viscount Grey‘s« letter to the British Foreign Office. It is said President Wilson considers the letter an attempt on the part of the British author-ities to inject themselves into the political situation in the Senate arising out of the Treaty flight. Mr Lansing declined to comment on the rumour. ’
