RATES TO BE INCIEEASED.

The conference of repl"e§en‘t'eifives of the Freezing Workers and Allied Trades’ Federation and of the associated freezing companies has been concluded, the employers ofiering 9a. ten per cent increase on the rates paid to all general labourers, and a 72: per cent in.crease on those paid to piece-workers-including sl’3.ugh"rermen-—undel' the existing agreement.

Freezing companies have been notified of the decision, which will be put into effect straightaway, the augment« ed salaries being paid this‘week. In some instances certain companies are already paying piece workers a bonus, and these rates will be adjustea on the basis of the incroase—the 75_l— per cent will not be paid plus the bonus.
