SWIM MING COMPETITION.
AT TAIHAPE BATHS.
There was a athefing of swimming enthusiasts at the Public Baths last evening to witness the first competition of the season. It was a 50 yards’ handicap and the first of a. series of competitions that have been arranged.‘ In the first -heat Darvil-1 was successful with a handicap -of 5 sec.; other competitors wen’-e Cowie 39ec. and J. Harris Bsec. Second Heat: Hamill ssec. -; Kel~ ea} Isec., Dymock, 4sec., Coleman fisec. ‘ - .3
Third Heat. Mcsweeney, 4sec. 1; Ballantyne scr.; Kearns lsec. Final: Hamill ssec. 1; Mcsweeney, 4sec. 2; Darvill ssec. 3. The final was won in 36 seconds-. ' V
A 50 yards handicap for boys is being held to-day. It is for schoolboys; the first prize a, gold medal presented by Mr W. J. Coutts, and the second a. silver medal presented by Mr D. J. McLennan.
