VALEDICTORY.

PRESENTATION TO FATHER IVIINOGUE.

A large number of parishioners of St. Mary’s Church assembled at the Presbytery on Tuesday evening to par ticipate in a musical evening. arranged as 9a. farewell fo the Rev. P. J. Minogue, who has been in charge: of the Taihape parish for some time past, and who has been transferred to the Wai-

pawa parish. On behalf of the parishioners, Mr J. B'artosh expressed the general regret felt at the departure of one who had worked so willingly and strnuously amongst them, and he was sure that they would all wish Father Minogue the best of health and luck in his new. parish. On "behalf of the parishioners, Mr Bartosh presented the guest with a purse of sovereigns. In responding, Father Minogue explained that his transfer to another parish was due to the state of his health. He would always remember with pleasure his association with the people of Taih-ape, and he hoped they would accord to his successor (Father Barnett) the same kindly treatment: which they had accorded to him during the whole of the time he had been associated with them.
