Information was received by Ir.-.~'nee—-tor Fouhy this afternoon of the dissippearaiice of Mis Reed, a Dnm;«:‘..in school tneaclrer, from :1 party she was travelling with from Lake ‘re Arsau to Milford Sound. It apears tlizzt Miss Reed and a party of friezicls were go ing from Te Anau to the head of Milford Sound on foot, and that Miss Bleed missed the party on January 13 when going up the saddle of McKinnon Pass. When the party left Pompolona. hut, thtere had evidently been -some discussion about Miss Reed’s condition. and to prove that she was not tired she went in -front of the party -and continued by herself. On her way up the saddle she .met 3. party returning. They advised liver‘ not to proceed, but to wait for the rest of her own party as there were two fleet of snow on the saddle and snow was still falling. She, however, continued The returning party met a portion of Miss Reed’S party and info-rmed them that they had seen her. Although the remainder pushed on they could not overtake l\«I~is?\ Reed ,and failed to find
