LABOUR CANDIDATE FOR PATEA.
HAWERA, this day. , Mr B. P. Fitzgerald (official Labourite) spoke at He wera last evening to a large audience. He severely criticised the Labour Leader and policy, and outlined Labour's platform aspublished by the parly. He was given a fair hearing, but at question time was subjected to much hostility regarding his connection, with Holland and Scrapie"*, whom questioners persisted in stating were disloyal. Mr,Fitzherbert, who served in the South African war and a year in the recent war, declared he would only support Scrapie if he proved himself loyaL A returned soldier endeavoured to move a motion of no confidence, but there was s'o much noisx; he could not be heard. Finally, amid much dissent, a motion of thanks and confidence was declared carried.
