TAIHAPE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Taihape School Committee was held last evening, there. being present: Mesdames De Lautour, and Randell, Rev. W. H. Hocking, and Messrs She:-win, Burrell, Rutherford, and Swindellg (in thechair). It was resolved to approve the Education B‘oard's reccnznrzmclejions of Mr Wilson as permanent first assistant to‘ the prim'a.ry departn*.en'f of ‘rho school, and those of Mr P. Hall and Mr Clements, as permanent fi".~*-1‘ assistant and second assistant repeetively of the seeorldary dep’.lrtment. A letter wa received from the Educav tion‘ Board enclosing a cheqne for -£ls 9/, proceeds from the Returned Soldiers’ ball, in Laid of the school library.
It was resolved t‘n'z~;t. Messrs Ruther—furd and ‘Swindells be appointed to act with the headmaster an-J fi'.‘:~f assistant of the school to procure suitable books for the school library to the amount of the donation, plug the Boar«l’s subsidy of s‘.-lme. It was ::l.~:0 resolved to send .3 letter of thanks, to the Returned Soldiers’ Association for the donation received. The headmas:er’s report was received. Accounts totalling £l3 12/3 were passed for payment.‘ In the matter of erection of'shelter sheds: In View of the Eclueation Board‘ having still taken no action in the maitter, it was resolved to"remvit same to the l\linist.er of Education. The inspectors’ I'epo2t< on the Taihape District {High ‘School and Winiata school were received, and both regarded as highly safiisfaetory, It was resolved that letter of ::ppl'eeiatioll and congratulation be sent to the licadinasterand st-affs on the.._ reports received. ‘
With regard to the proposed memorial on the sch_ocTl glgounds, former motions on the question were rescinded, and it was resolved ‘that, while in sympathy with the E 93 of a school memorial to former pupils of the school. ii: View of the fact that a general publi,c..memol-ial is now mooted, this rjomzxiittee deoidvs _’:o__A fake no further aji3tion~in.-the- nupttcrt of ‘a mvemox-ial 3.0 n the school grounds. ‘ _.
