In "'l‘}le Heart of :1 Lion.” the stalwart. William Fox stint makes ‘his 'i~cva.ppeal-a.nce, bringing‘ with him a story of absorbing interest and ‘excitement. l “"I‘lm Heart of a. Lion” fits aclmirably the splendid talents -of William Farnum, and is taken from a. novel by‘ Ralph Connor, called “The I)ioct‘or.‘_’_’
Mr Connor, whose real name is Charles W. Gordon, is now a major in the Canadian _ Highlanders. “The Doctor” is one of his best known and most popular works, as are also “Black Rock” and “The Manfrom Glengarry. ’ ’ {the story of this magnificent picture revolves about.tWo brothers, Barney Kemper (Mr Farnum)‘ and Dick (Wiliiam Courtleigh, jumn). Dick is a worthless sort of youth who does not awaken to a realisation of his own shiftlessne-Ss until Barney catches him making 10Vo f 0 a xs*om?ln engaged to marry himself. Then Dick rcfornis, studios for the ministry, is ordained, and sent to 9.: lumber camp. Barney, who has withdrawn; -com‘: pletely from civilisation after the loss of his faith in Dick, has become physician in this same camp. \Vhen -the rough backwoodsmen of the community attack Dick and woun'd him, Barney reveals his identity and does his best to nurse his brother back/co health and life.
‘Two women play important roles in this production, Mary Martin and Wanda Betit. It is easy to see hpw Mr Farnum could love ‘them both.
