The class of cattle -entered was not. up to standard, and eonseqpefistly {bidding fwas , dull, but they managed to quit ihe bulk of their entry at the following prices:——-Sheep: Hoggefs 23/2, 24/7, to 28/6, ewes -and lambs 39/. Cattle: Four and 5-year bullocks £l3, fat bullocks £l7 15/, fat cows (light) £9 7/6, £lO/forwarcl heifers (light) £3 17/6, empfy liefers V£6 10/, £,7 2-year steers, forward store cows £5 10/, £6 10/, to £7, emptly dairy heifers ‘£4 to £6 2/6, yearling steers £4 1/, £4 7/6 to £4 10/. ,
LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Company are n receipt of a cable'from ‘their London oflice, under date of 14th instant, reading as follows:-—-“Woo: sales opened very firm} As compared uwith lalst sales’ closing rates, prices for merino woolg are 10 per cent to 15 per cent higher, crossbred wolols (fine quality) 10 per cent higher, crsosbred wools (medium qualify) 15 per cent higher, crossbred (coarse) 10 per cent higher. English and French buyers are buying moderately. Highest price is 116 d for merino wools scoured, and Sf-Lied “merino wo~olslgrcasy.” , TALLOW MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received -the following cablegram. from their London house, under date 12th inst:-—'l‘allow: Fine mutton £llO per ton; good beef £IOB per ‘ton; mixed £IOO per ton; good denianld.
