A very pleasing function took place in the officc of the Taihape Dai.z'y Company on Wednesday last, when Mr H.‘ D. Bennett, who has for some time occupied the position of chairman of directors of the company, wan the recipi_ent of 3. .halldsome entree di-.-th suitably inscribed, from his fellow directors. o_

The speaker expressed on behalf of the directors the earnest wish that Mr Bennett would occupy the directorial chair of the company for n-.2ln_*,' '_\/‘ears to come.
Mr Bennett, on rising to respond, was received with -applause He thanked the rnembers for their gift; the surprise of it was the greater part of the pleasure. He deply appreciated the cordial feeling of his fello\\'-dil'('(:-tors, of which the presentation was a happy and tangible token, and his appreciation was further enhanced by the fact that it was, in a form in which Mrs Bennett could also derive pleasure. It would be an ornament to the Fehu-, and he could assure them that it would he indeed prized greatly. Coming down to mere business, Mr Bvnnett assured the directors of his kc.-011 personal interest in the welfare of the company and the eo-nipanyfs success. and he wished them, and believed they would achieve greater success in the future. He viewed the gathering of the directors aththe monthly meetings wi-thflreal ‘pleasure because of the ‘happy relationship and good feeling byywhich these meetings were uniformly characterised.
