GRAVES ON GALLIPOLI
BRITISH CONTROL OF AREA. PRIME MINISTERS E-FFOR-'l‘. VVELLINGTON, Sept. 3. A reminder of the et‘fort being made to bring the Gallipoli battlefields under British control was given in the -"House of Representafives this afternoon by the Prime Minister. Mr Mas. sey said that he had made the -suggestion ‘at the Imperial Conference ‘in Paris. He again brought the matter up, and :1 stipulation that the area should be handed over was included in the terms offered to Turkey, There was still a danger -that the clause nriglrt be struck out_ ThiS‘lle did not think probable, 0 however. ‘Belgium gzlnd France had already handed over the British burial grounds in their territory. Turkey was in a difierent position, but, if necessary, pressure could be brought to bear upon her. In the event of the area coming tinder British control it would -be under the care, of the British Graves’ Commission, and it could be accepted wet it worn: be in good hands.
