'1 A remarkable .llousebreal:ing' case i was heard at Sunderlaud when four re- ‘ spcetably connected boys were commit.ted for trial on a charge of forcibly entering the house of :1, common-is-. 1 traveller and stealing £2O. worth of jwellery. On one boy Was found a book containing names of prisoners and other boys. One was described as “the count,” another as “the baron.” others were marked “active spy,” and two or three as “1r11153;s.” A list of “cases on hand” was also found, giving addresses of premises suitable for lmre;‘r:n'_\f, and the probable value of booty to be secured. Inelud-rd in this list was the house of Hr Hover. the commercial traveller who was robbed. When the prisoners were arrested part of the stolen property was i"olmd on two of them. The bulk of it was in a parcel a(l;'.res~s.e'l to :1 person in Market Street, Manchester, who asked in .9. letter contained in the parcel to forward remittance, “as before.”
