LADIES’ REST ROOM.
At the last meeting of the Borough ‘Council, the question of providing a 11-est roonl in the town for Women and’ 1 children was brought up, and the .' Mayor, Mr A. J. Joblinl was delegated’ ‘power to see one established. The i Mayor found that a large room in the iMunicipal Chambers would admirably yrnoot the necessities of the case,’ and ' this room has accordingly been reserved for the purpose indicated. It is flsituatecl on the top of the staircase [leading to the dress circle, a little to I the left of the entrance, is quite com- ; modious, and has all necessary sanitary conveniences. So far so good, but the il\:[ayor is now faced with the problem !of furnishing the room in a manner {to make it attractive to the ladies—a j place to which they could take children,. } do any writing or reading. and a room twith a certain amount of privacy in {which they could rest after doing the‘business which necessitated their pre- ! senee in town. What is now required jis a table, taole—clot.h, several chairs, ‘couch, and a few of those little nicknackg which in a woman’s hands can make a room attractive and pleasant. Mr Joblin now appeals for donations of furniture from ithose people who are always read_\j* to help when a case of public necessity arises. and he has invoked the assistance of Mrs (Dru) Boyd, who has kindly consented to help’ along the good work. If these desirous of providing any of the articles named will cornnrunicate with Mrs Boyd, stalfing what. direction their donation will take, it will save a lot of‘ time and perhaps, unnecessary d‘cation. ,’_ ‘L
