The next pole, however, snapped under the shock, cutting direct telegraphic conimunicution with the West Coast. messages having to be diverted through the Wairarapa until the wires Were reatlusted to—day by :1 special gang of lincsmen, who were rushed to the job. The men on the lorry were unlmrt, and the vehicle Was not. damaged. :
