Sir James Allen said that the matter {had been befiore ‘Cabifet more‘ than once, and was up «again on Tuesday. -The Minister for Railways had recommended, and Cabinet had approved, the revision of the present regulations. The Minister for Railways had been of the iopinion that when the “out” Was made ilzhe incionvenience Would Teslrrict ftravelling, but it had: not done so, and he proposed that passenger traflic should be limited to essential travelling and that the savings should be placed» at the ‘disposal of goods. Mr Harries said it was proposed E 0 cut passenger traffic down as much as -possible——-to put only a. certain numIber of carriages «on the trains, and carry only those sort of people who 'wei'e obliged to" be carried. A member of the deputation: Race-g«oers-—-do'- ybu -caill ‘them essential!
