Russell’s ' telegram re paying subsidy on -two days’ celebrations. (This wire appeared in yesterd:a.y»’s paper.) There was a good attendance, and the matter was fully discussed, -and _it was decided to carry out the original. programme’ for l Children’s Day, as originally drafted, ‘ on the first day, Saturday, 19th,‘ consisting of children’s“ procession, sports, prizes, etc., with fireworks display, ‘bon.fires, free conc.er.t, pictures, and’ skating in the evening. . On" Monday the original People ’s ‘Day, the programme will be somewhat shut down. ‘The monster procession will _ be held about 1 p.m., with sports items, etc., in the afternoon; ball, carnixpal, "pictures, and skating, free, in the evening. . ANOTHER WERE FROM THE p MINISTER. - - The Hon, G. W. Russell, with his numerous telegrams, is getting almost as famous as President Wilson with v his “Notes.” The Mayor, Mr J. A. Joblin, yesterday received the following wire from Mr G. W. Russell: “Referring to my -telegram of the Bth, soldiers‘ will be carried free on all ' railways on the 19th and 21st. Children will be carried free on Monday only. Children will -only be conveyed to the nearest town from their place of residence in which celebrations will be held. No special trains can ‘be rfin, and . only‘ the aceommosl-at-ion in the ordinary trains can be used. It is, therefore, recommended that in every possible ‘case the celebrations shall be local.” ’ '
