WIFE WHO WAS FORGIVEN.
An episode which wsa. said to have arisen out of a3-married woman’s War! time flirtation was recounted in West: Ham Police Court. , ‘ V John Cunninham, 34, _gas stoke!‘ was charged on remand with as«. saulting Sybil Anne Hoekett Wife of a recently demobilised soldier. 7 Mrs. Hockett said her husband had been serviffg in France and elsewhere‘ abroad for the last four years_ Some? fime ago she met Cunninham, and had been “carrying on” with him‘ When'her husband came home on leave she told hi mall about it am! he forgave her. While out with her husband she‘ saw the prisoner, who “looked her in‘ band asked “Who is that fellow ” She made no reply to this. Their looked backwards and then the prisoner came back.‘ Cunningham used objec-« tionable language to them both and hit her in the eye. The witness added :that Cunninham had hit her before, Saying Cunningham had acter dis-' gracefully, the magistrate, sentenced; him to two months’ hard labour.
